The much sought after GPS helps in locating, navigating and tracking as well as keeping a record of the maps and routes for the various locations. It also helps in calculating the altitude above the sea level as well as give exact coordinates while on a journey.

The most commonly used gadget which has GPS facility is the wrist watch which is increasingly being used by both athletes and the non-athletic people alike. It is a multi-purpose and multi-functional device which can even count the steps a person has walked along with the calculation of time, speed and the distance travelled.

Casio was the first company to introduce wrist watches which had the GPS facility. This watch, which was aptly named the Pathfinder, revolutionized the whole concept of time and space. With this watch, the athletes and adventure enthusiasts did not only know what time zone they were in rather it also told them where they were located at a given point of time. Casio introduced this watch in June 1999 at the Consumers Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Over the years, the company has improved upon its products and has brought many more GPS enabled wrist watches. In 2006, Casio introduced the world's smallest GPS wrist watch which was much more streamlined, less heavy and the latest features attached with it. The watch weighed only 64 grams. Then in 2000, it introduced a wrist watch called Forerunner which had the GPS facility and was designed for recreational runners. Garmin produces watches which are suitable for both men and women. It specializes in sports watches, heart rate monitors and watches which can be used for underwater swimmers. All these watches carry the GPS facility.
